SVChost.exe virus

I’m running Win XP on a home PC and everyday I get a message that SVCHOST.EXE has a trojan virus. My antivirus software AVG (www.grisoft.com) cleans it. I have brought home a different copy of the same file, deleted the one on my machine and replaced it but the virus messages keep coming. Can anyone suggest a cure please?
