SVHOST.EXE PROBLEM

I am running Vista 32 . I have found a svhost.exe file that is not located in the windows\system32 folder and it is not a microsoft file. When I logon I get various numbered .exe files that are asking permission to be loaded. I also have a Project1 program requesting permission to the internet. Do I have a virus or something? If I do how do I remove it.
