The amazing apostrophe

The IT Skeptic provides a quick rule refresher about the use of apostrophes (http://www.itskeptic.org/apostrophe-protection-society), then asks a valid question: [i]We can can get Word to format two pages differently and we can’t understand this simple rule? What is it?[/i]

I’ve never understood it either. How can people who have no problem with command syntax in a Linux or Windows CLI not understand how to use an apostrophe in their writing?
