The IT market is picking up in 2008, so they say, but who really benefits?

The employer or the prospective employee? I’m seeing a disturbing trend in which companies are looking to fill multiple positions but their offering salaries are a joke and outright insulting to those who call themselves professionals in this field. Is this a sign of worst things to come in the IT field? Will IT turn into another trade skill like automotive repair or welding at this rate, if it hasn’t already? I’m hoping 2008 will be a great year for IT, but who will benefit here? What do you guys and gals think will be the direction of IT this year?
