My company has 7 branches, each a small LAN with a router. We have a snap server at our main office housing non-mission critical data that I would like to share with those 7 branches. Our main office has the intranet IP’s of 192.168.1.x, while the branches have 192.168.2.x, 192.168.3.x, etc. We basically are running a peer to peer with win 2000 pro,(and a mainframe), and in network neighborhood at the main office, I can see all the computers on the 192.168.1.x address, but I cannot see through the router to the other branches and they cannot see outside their routers. The routers are configured so that the mainfrane can talk to anyone and vice-versa, but not so for each intranet. Is this a router config issue? A subnet mask issue? A gateway issue? A combination of all? Without buying more equipment, is this the best design?
