Situation: Client is Outlook 97 SR 2. Mail Server at our ISP is Imail by Ipswitch. Any Excel attachments (we’ve tried several) sent by this one client arrive some remote destinations unassociated and with no extension. However, if it is sent first to any other client on our Exchange 4.0 SP3 mail system, then forwarded (without opening or altering the attachment)through our ISP’s Ipswitch Imail server, same destination receives it normally with no problem. Exception to this is that I had theclient send the problematic attachment to my Yahoo mailbox, and opened it there with no problem. Up until then I thought faulty MIME encoding, then I opened it OK at Yahoo. By the way, no problem with any other attachments sent from this client that I’ve seen, doc files, txt files, pdf’s, all OK, only Excel worksheets.
By the way, encoding is standard MIME, 7 bit, us ASCII on both ends when tested.
I always award my points for the right answer that works, no games.
Thanks much everyone.
