TR’s new site finds new webhosting service

by oz_media . Updated 19 years, 9 months ago

[sarcasm]Due to a constant issue of Page Not Found, posts never updating and slow, lethargic site performance, TR has decided to move it’s website.

C-Net has been having monetary issues due to excessive bandwidth misuse and has found it would be better to serve TR’s pages through a reliable server. After contacting many ISP’s and offering tech points (which the peers had gathered up over time), not realizing that Tech Points were of no value, they were quite disappointed to have the offer turned down. They did some Google searching and found it best to have a site served for free by TriPod.

Users will notice little difference, with the exception that it actually works, your posts don’t double or triple up, you don’t have to copy posts to the clipboard before submitting ‘JUST IN CASE’ and you will notice Tripod’s banners on each page you view (not that you aren’t already used to wasted real estate).

Another advantage to this format will be that you are able to partake in lovely banner games, such as the classic, Punch The Monkey or Shoot The Turkey on each page but most of all, everyone will benefit from a site that is properly served while page views click through like butter.

One important note: visit early, because page views will be limited to about 80 (total)per day, in order to keep the service free. After that time, you will simply hit a Tripod notice stating the site is closed and to try again tomorrow.

To make it easier, TR will not have one of those long urls that nobody remembers, but will replace it with either a TINYURL or a GO.TO/~TECHREPUBLIC.COM redirect service (again for free of course).

We thank you for using Tech Republic and hope that you enjoy the improved service available with a free hosting service. [/sarcasm]

EDIT: The irony was when THIS post timed out too! LOL 🙂
