Unknown Error

I created a new distribution group in exchange 2000. We can see the group in the address list but when we try to send mail to it we get a message that an unknown error has occured. If we send to the groups e-mail address it works fine. Some of the users are pretty basic so they need to be able to just click to: and choose the group. Any ideas?
