using Ghost for a system that will not boot

I took a test today at an IT company and one of the test was a CPU that would not boot. the system had a Ghost Image on the drive and they gave me 20 min to restore the system log in to the network and go to google.com all without a boot disk or a Ghost boot disk. the OS was XP so you could not boot to DOS. my question is can this be done?? i always have a boot disk with me
