Using Symantec Ghost to deploy WXPpro

I am a member of a team of IT Professionals, in an educational environment. We are having trouble deploying WXP to our classroom computers. We deploy WindowsXP, with many applications for our clients, using Symantec Ghost. Our hardware is Intel based P2, Celeron, and P3, using chipsets I815, I822(HP Brio), ASUS(Celeron), and Pheonix(P2 233-366). We usually get 1/2 of the room done after a long period of time. We are building new images trying to make the image as broad and easy to deploy as possible. We have tried to elimiate most of the service packs except SP1 for XP and IE6, without much success. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make our process go smoother across our multiple hardware environment?
