webhosting costs

I know this question is very general and i will try to keep this short … but i just started a new job and have been assigned toa project at the end (basically during payments) and i have been totally shocked about the amount the webhosting company is charging us… The prepared these nice colorful reports showing all the bandwith consumption for the past few months but ithe costs are still ridiculous. we are talking thousands and thousands of dollars per month for on average 50GB per month…… does this sound sane to anyone and how can i prove we are being RIPPED OFF!!! HELP!!! if anyown needs more details i will be happy to provide
