I‘d like to provide a web mail solution for my client website to boost web page impressions just like hotmail and yahoo do.
Background:
Website has about a million hits a Month.
Membership database has 50.000 users.
Environment: NT Server 4.0 sp6a, IIS 4, Active Server Passes, Database Access, Exchange 5.5 (hasn’t been installed yet)
Business Goals:
Existing member in the database will have their mailboxes created automatically.
New user will have their email obtained by registering themselves on website. When registering to the membership database via web page username, password and email address should be automatically stored.
Questions:
Is it possible to do this with Exchange 5.5?
I have heard before that this can be accomplished by using Exchange in conjunctions with Site Server.
Is it true or false?
I know there are other mail servers that I can almost achieve this propose like IMail Server, MailSite, CommuniGate Pro, Eudora WorldMail Server, N-PLEX Global 4.0, NTMail. Since my client already have exchange 5.5 and all these Mail servers cost on average $2000.00 dolares. I’d rather use exchange with some kind of add-ons.
I would appreciate any comments on this matter. Thank you
