What are the most respected schools in the IT industry?

I’m looking at schools to finish my IT degree in programming. I prefer an online school but have heard horror stories about the reputability of University of Phoenix and ECPI, and ITT is very expensive. I’m starting to think that a brick and mortar institution would be more respected, in addition to certifications.

Any advice for someone trying to break into this field, besides, “don’t”? 🙂 Thanks, everyone.
