What “Data Type” do I use for the two primary keys in my Associate table?

I have an associate table which I created as a result of a many-to-many relationship. I have place the primary keys of both parent tables in the associate table with an “autonum” data type. I am not sure what data type I need to use in on the foreign keys in my associate table.
