What Should Be Considered as a Disaster in the DRP?

by clendanielc . Updated 13 years, 3 months ago

Hi Everyone:

I’ve been given the task of creating a DRP for a manufacturing company. This will be the first one created for them and the first one I’ve created from scratch. My question is, What should be considered as a disaster?

My list that I have so far is of course are the usuals Fire, Natural Disaster, and Power Outage. I’ve also added a few more such as Cyber Attack and Terrorist Attack. Though those two go together I separated them because I define what each of them cover.

Am I considering too many disasters or not enough? I know its hard to cover every little thing but my thoughts is to only list the most likely disasters. The nice thing is that I can derive many of the disasters from our Contingency Plan that is well written. It makes writing the DRP easier.
