Windows 2000 Backup

I have a tape that I want to restore from, but the tape does not appear in my media pool. I have duplicate names in my media pool, I followed microsoft’s article 269385, which had me delete all my duplicate media pool names, but when I insert my tape, the media name does not restore to the default media pool. Does anyone know how to restore a tape into the media pool?
