Windows 2003 Server Updates Causing Generic Host Process /DEP Errors

We run a number of servers in our organization -Independently served by school site technical staff and centrally at our office. Since December 9, 2009 we have been systematically forcing updates to SP2 for our Windows 2003 servers. More then 1/2 dozen of them have had Win32 Generic Host Process Failures on reboot. Any ideas?
