Windows XP boot nothing in display

I upgraded windows 2000 to windows xp. Now when booting system nothing in display and monitor light going orange. But when boot in safe mode, remove the vga driver and boot in normal can display. But I can’t update that driver. Can I remove that driver permanently?
Now when i shut down or restart the computer it will displaying shutdown the system, but not off the computer and also monitor i turned off the computer manually. But cpu fan stop and hard disk also.
