Windows XP freezing when using right click

Hello,

When ever I right click on my desktop and highlight new or run an MS office file, one of my machines freezes. The Task Manager shows nothing and the Event logs are empty.

This has been happening for around a month. I’ve not installed any new software for about 2 months so I’m a little lost. any ideas would be helpful
