I got a new QuickCam Messenger and I was installing it. I installed the software and when it came time to plug it in the logitech program did not recognize it but the little balloon popped up at the bottom of my WinXP desktop saying new hardware and it installed correctly. It did it like 3-4 times one after the other and in the middle of windows trying to auto-install the cam my computer just rebooted all by itself. When it came back up I couldnt dial up to the internet anymore, the CD Rom drives are not recognized by windows, and neither is the sound card. When I start up my bios does the plug and play correctly and recognizes everything fine, but once I get into windows almost everything is DEAD but the hard drives. I looked in the Device manager and it has exclamation marks on the 2 CD drives, the sound card, the camera and the Plug and Play adapter item under the BIOS section. I think installing the quickcam knocked out my plug and play somehow but I really dont know how to fix it. I am a computer tech and I built this computer myself, one of many I have built and have never come across this problem. If the CD Drives were working I would of just reinstalled WINXP, but I cant, I cant even get online cause everytime I try it says the COM port my modem is using is in use by another network app, which it isnt. I was online when the computer reboot by itself while I was inatalling the quickcam. I uninstalled the quickcam driver and it didnt work and I uninstalled theLogitech Image Studio and wont go back to normal. So now I am pretty much stuck. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this? I do part of my job from home and cannot function without my computer. I am well versed technically but I have never hadsomething like this happen. Please help?
