Word 2003

Microsoft Word 2003
I am at the end of my whits and I hope someone can help. Using Word 2003 I have written something out of which I want to delete a certain line. After I highlighted it and hit the delete button a window pops up that says:”The selection is marked as deleted text” and it’s impossible to delete that line. I have tried everything I can think of to no avail.
Please somebody help, help, help.
