Word Problem with Format Painter and Bullets Style

When I am in a Word document using Styles, the bullets style has a problem. If I use the Format Painter on the bullets style my style is changed to something that I do not want. I can use the Format Painter on all the other styles but not the bullets style. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks.
