XP & lost /noncommunication to printer

Running WinXP, recently lost communication to printer and/or lost drivers, also lost some software that is MS based. Using a Landmark 73 printer/scanner/fax machine. Have reinstalled printer drivers, and software. Software works but PSF machine does not print anything. Getting bidirectional error message. any clue would be helpful.
