XP only gets halfway through booting after copying drive with norton ghost

Hi,

I’ve just copied the contents of my old ide drive to a new sata drive
using Norton ghost 9. Once complete I shut the system down,
unplugged the old drive and started up. Windows appears to start
booting ok, but then it reaches the light blue screen with the dark
blue banners top and bottom, at which point it would usually prompt
me to select my account. But it just sits there and nothing happens. I
can still move the mouse pointer, but that’s about it.

Any idea what’s going wrong, and how I could solve it? Any
suggestions are gratefully received!
