OnePlus owners have a date for their next major Android update — but some will be waiting until 2027. The company will begin rolling out Android 17-based ColorOS 17 on Oct. 29, 2026, starting with the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4.

The OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s are next, with rollouts starting Oct. 30. Other eligible phones and tablets follow in stages through March 2027. The release also marks OnePlus’ transition away from OxygenOS, giving eligible existing owners a choice between their familiar software and OPPO’s newer operating system.

OnePlus ColorOS 17 rollout schedule by device

The official OnePlus rollout roadmap covers 24 device entries across five release windows. Newer flagships lead the schedule, followed by earlier models, Nord phones and tablets.

December 2026 OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition, OnePlus 11, OnePlus Nord 5, OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite, OnePlus Nord CE5, OnePlus Pad 2, OnePlus Pad Go 2

The dates mark the start of distribution, not guaranteed installation deadlines. Updates will arrive in batches depending on device model, region and carrier. Selected devices have already entered beta testing ahead of the stable release.

Eligibility also differs from long-term software support. A recent comparison of Samsung and OnePlus update policies examines how Android version upgrades and security patch commitments vary across individual models.

ColorOS 17 features and update preparation

ColorOS 17 introduces a refreshed interface, smoother animations and expanded AI capabilities. OPPO’s Oct. 13 announcement claims its updated rendering architecture reduces rendering load by up to 30% and rendering-related RAM consumption by up to 25% in selected tests. These are company-reported figures, not independently verified benchmarks.

Agent Mode, part of AI Mind Pilot, can organize files, retrieve information and perform multistep tasks. Under OPPO’s AI privacy framework, the feature requires authorization for relevant actions, while locally indexed files are not automatically uploaded to third-party AI services. Availability varies by device and region.

Businesses managing OnePlus phones should test VPN connectivity, device-management enrollment and critical applications before broader deployment. Google’s recently announced Android Enterprise AI controls could help organizations manage automated features, but supported devices, configuration options and availability remain unclear.

Individual owners should back up important files, charge their devices and check Settings for available updates. Security patches also follow separate schedules, and Google’s newer component-level Android security checks offer a more detailed picture of protection than a single patch date.

For eligible existing OnePlus devices, the company says migration from OxygenOS to ColorOS will be voluntary. OnePlus’ official support notice also promises a rollback option, although supported versions have not been specified.

The first stable ColorOS 17 rollout begins Oct. 29, but the timetable is only a starting point. Device eligibility, regional availability and the choice to leave OxygenOS will determine what happens next for each owner.
