Due to a corruption of several Xp systems files the operating system would not start. I had two Hard drives in the machine at the time (the 2nd serving as a partial data backup). Windows would not allow me to repair the problem offering only to delete the partition and start again — which I do not want to do. So, I installed Windows XP on the 2nd drive (overwriting the backup data) and now find that I have two C drives.
Disk 0 (C:) Healthy (System)
Disk 1 Health (Active)
Both show as primary drives.
Windows explorer does not show the 2nd drive (which contains all my original program files and data files).
Computer Mgmt: Storage etc will not let me change either drive letter; niether will the Diskpart command allow me to changeeither drive letter. Nor will it “clean” the original faulty drive. Any ideas as to how I get at the original drive and “clean” out the operating system info so I can access the data?
Thanks…
