2 Comps a modem and a router.

Hi I’m having a problem connecting my sister’s laptop and my desktop computer to the internet at the same time.I’ve hooked them both up to the router and at first for a few minute’s they both worked fine but then only her laptop stayed onlien where as my desktop started saying i had limited or no connectivity.My question is how do I fix it so that there both online at the same time?
