2 router/modems

by antl69orama . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

I have a Cisco router/modem as part of my employer paid ADSL connection at home.

I would like to set up port forwarding so I can access personal computers on my home network.

However, I have no access to the router set up as it is secured by our IT dept.

So I was considering a set up like this as a workaround:

Wall –> own ADSL modem/router/switch –> work ADSL modem/router

I would then connect my personal computers to the network via the ethernet ports on my own modem/router.

Likewise, I would connect the work computer to the work ADSL modem/router.

The question:

is it even possible to chain two modem/routers this way?

Thanks in advance for any help 🙂
