2 SCSI adapters in w2k server problem?

Have a w2k server with a hard drive running off of an adaptec scsi controller. Went to add a tape backup drive (WangDAT 4mm DDS-3) and another adaptec scsi adapter.

During boot, each scsi adapter is “recognized” (by their own on-board bioses I guess), but once W2k is booted, the tape drive and adapter are nowhere to be found, nor can they be “added” as hardware.

Do I need to disable the bios on the second adapter?
