2003 R2 Printer Management and DNS Alias problem

Good day,
I had the idea of having two print servers , one 2003 standard and one 2003 R2 which is only used in case the first one fails to keep the printers up, so I setup a DNS alias. I can actually install the printers with the Alias, but if I want to manage it via the Print Management console, when I switch the Alias from the R2 server to the 2003 server, I cannot add it to the managemment console, I get the message “the specified server name cannot be added. The server name is invalid or access is denied”. Any idea? thank you.
