I have a 80GB HD from Maxtor(D740X-6L). It had been hooked up to my system running Win98se. It had been partitioned to only access a 32GB area leaveing the rest unassigned & unaccessible. It was only in the computer temperarely as a quick fix. It was installed as instructed by Maxtor. It performed fine. Later it was removed & replaced by the original HD. Afew months later it was again called upon to act in a temperary capasity on the same computer, this time as additional storeage. Only thistime the OS was Win XP. It was formatted to insure that it was clear of any data. checking the properties showed that it had 32GB, I figured from the first use, no problem. Again when the neccesity for it’s use was over it was removed. Now I want to wipe the whole HD. I installed it, but this time it registered that I only have 10MB. It is not acknowledging the rest of the drive at all. I have tried formating, expolering the drive through command prompt, and useing the disks from Maxtor. How can I regain the full use of this HD? I don’t care about loseing any thing on it. I would just like the use of the HD full time in the ” Under Construction” computer that I have finally been able to acquire(& afford) all the parts for. Any helpwould be greatly appreciated.
