98 windows explorer errors

by wordmaster1 . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I am running a dual boot 98 2nd edition and 2k on an Abit MB with AMD 2600, 3 hd’s a 160, an 80 and a 30gig. HD’s are partitioned using Partition Magic.

I have been running this configuration with no problems for a couple of years.

Now Drive G is giving problems. I have done a surface scan, scandisk, defrag, virus check, adware, spyware, etc.

When I open My Computer and double clik G: nothing happens. Right clik G: and clik properties, everything appears OK, clik “open” nothing happens, right clik and clik “explore” and it opens up in windows explorer and shows all the stuff on the drive.

About this time, I get an error with the following info:

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module at 0000:0228278c.

I have checked the drive every way I can think of, scandisked and defragged all drives, and no change. BTW, I can do things on G: like copy, delete, etc when opened in explorer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
