i just installed a lab setup for 2000 server w/ Active Directory, with a single win98 workstation attached. if i manually assign an IP address to the workstation, I can log onto the system (using the server’s domain identity in my Client for Microsoft Networks properties). However, I can’t get the workstation to pick up an IP address from the DHCP service I’ve configured on the server. I get a “No domain server…” message at the workstation, and WINIPCFG shows me that 98 doesn’t know the DHCPService is there.
I’m researching WINS, DNS and DHCP on 2000 til my eyes cross, but a bunch of you have probably figured this one out months ago. Help, please?
