About Ethernet

I have confusion here that either signals running on the ethernet network’s wire are digital or analog.As per my knowledge signals are digital in all ethernet local networks( i mean to say digital signals flows in the whole wire). But my one friend has told me that those are analog. Sp please make it confirm with prove.
