Access locks out multiple users – how can I fix that.

I’ve got a db designed in Access 2000 (It has to stay there because it’s a big company with antiquated hardware and software.) It is housed on a server but accessed from desktops. I think I have the settings such that it shouldn’t lock anyone out. But, the lock goes on and doesn’t shut off when the person exits.

Any suggestions.
