Access to secure sites

Users in our network appear to have lost the ability to access secure sites. They can see normal web sites, i.e. expedia.co.uk but when they try to access a secure page a http 500 error is generated.

I’ve checked the firewall logs which are picking up an unknown error and the https service is included in the firewall rules.

Any ideas?
