Access to Shared Network Drives without VPN

Greetings People,

Is it possible for a user who works remotely, to access a shared network drive, without connecting via VPN???

We use the Cisco VPN at present – but it is proving very unreliable while teams are travelling, Including US, South America, Europe.

I am using Outlook Anywhere as a test, but still need access to shared drives,

It is a fustrating issue, is there a better way??
