accessing a win2k machine on win98se net

by colin.mac . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I’ve recently implemented a Windows 98SE wireless network containing 5 machines(2 * Desktops and three laptops). When I added another laptop running win2k everything went fine and I could pick up the new win2k machine in network neighbourhod, however, when i try to access the win2k machine I get the following message appearing in a panel in the middle of my screen ” Enter network password, you must supply a password to make this connection. it then gives the name of the resource machine and provides a box to enter a password. I’ve tried the machines log-in password to no a avail, and at the moment I’m not running any WEP tools. In the permissions of the win2k machine i’ve got it set for everyone to have access to the machine. Should I be adding something different in the permissions fields ? I got the same problem yesterday when I set up a home network of two machines, one runnning ME the other running 2K.

Everythng else on the first network runs fine, printer and internet sharing, my only problem is trying to access the win2k machine from one of the other clients.

I hope this makes sense and someone can help.
