Accessing shared folders on a domain while not joined to the domain

I have several users that have domain accouts and can access shared folders. I currently do not have those computers as members of the domain.

When those users try to access the shared resorces and put in their user name and pass they re denied access and their account is locked on the first try.

Any thoughts?
