accesss forbidden iis server 2000 intranet

Hello everyone. I am setting up an intranet for my company. I have the site set using IIS 5.0/Server 2000. When I try to access it using localhost:portnumber I get the “You are not auth to view this page” 403-forbidden” error. I get the same error when using servername:portnumber from another computer. The site files are located in a share directory on an XP system on the same network. I have changed the permissions on the share and the account that IIS uses to access the shared folder. I have used anon access and windows integrated authentication. Always the same error. Any help would be great. Thanks.
