Acer Scanner not working -98SE Upgrade

I recently upgraded from Win 95 to 98SE and since Acer 620U scanner not only not operate but causes my system to crash. Acer Support says that I have to do a clean install of 98 but would like to avoid that if possible. Scanner uses USB and I have an intel camera installed that uses USB and have had no problems with it. Scanner isn’t a problem because I’ve installed on another machine and it works.
