Acrobat 8.1.4 – Slow to print graphically intensive documents

When printing a graphically intensive PDF file using Acrobat 8.1.4 to a HP MFP device the size in the queue becomes 21 MB for 13 pages.

This is of course slow to print ? about 1 page every 45 seconds

Is there any way to speed this up?

PDF files that are mostly text are fine
