Acronis 9.1 Universal restore unpredictable behaviour Win2k8

I have 2 Windows 2008 servers
Both have a system partition that is simple / basic disk configurstion.

I boot Acronis and backup server1 and then boot acronis and run recovery, in the wizard i get the option to use the universal option.

On server 2 i do the same and do not get the universal option. On server 2 if i point at the backup performed on server1 i get the universal restore option.

I am both confussed and frustrated with the product, has anyone managed to get this to work and also work out why it can fail.
