Active Desktop on NT 4.0 from IE 5.5?

Is there a way to get Active Desktop (quick link icons near the start button like in 9x) for NT 4.0 SP6a without installing IE4 and then IE 5.5? Can I just install IE 5.5 and then an Active desktop plugin/software/patch? It would save me soo o much time. Thanks in advance…
