Active Directory authentication?

Good Afternoon,
My non-profit org is running 2 win2003 servers. One is a vps by 1and1 which is the web server and the other is a physical server hosted by a partner which is the database/domain controller. We are looking to use opensso for are web apps. Can we authenticate active directory outside are partners network.
