I’m searching for help in resolving the following problem:
In Server 2003 SP2 (single domain controller w/only 6 clients) in a “normal” start-up mode, when attempting to “Manage Users and Computers”, I receive this message.
ACTIVE DIRECTORY
NAMING INFORMATION CANNOT BE LOCATED BECAUSE: THE NETWORK PATH WAS NOT FOUND. CONTACT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR TO VERIFY THAT YOUR DOMAIN IS PROPERLY CONFIGURED AND IS CURRENTLY ONLINE.
When attempting to “Manage Domains and Trusts”, I receive a slightly different message:
ACTIVE DIRECTORY DOMAINS AND TRUSTS
THE CONFIGURATION INFORMATION DESCRIBING THIS ENTERPRISE IS NOT AVAILABLE. THE NETWORK PATH WAS NOT FOUND. CONTACT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR TO VERIFY THAT YOUR DOMAIN IS PROPERLY CONFIGURED AND IS CURRENTLY ONLINE.
I can, however, manage the “File Server” , “Remote Access/VPN Server”, and “DNS Server” roles under a “normal” start-up mode.
When I boot the server in “safe mode”, I can access Active Directory, see all the computers and users and their respective settings. I can add/change these settings like I should be able to do in a “normal” startup. I’ve had this problem for quite some time now (3 months or so). It should also be noted that the network seems to be working fine in regard to serving files, operating as a DNS server….I’ve tried many times to serach for key words that may lead me to someone else that has had the same problem and, therein, find the solution – No Luck so far.
I’ve tried a “clean-boot”, disabling all non-Microsoft services on startup – No Luck.
I’ve tried with my anti-viurs software disabled – No Luck.
Any help in solving this problem will be much appreciated.
