Ad Hoc Networks

I just got a new laptop and i was to be able to connect it to my old laptop via a ad hoc network, they are both running windows vista.

i set up the wireless network on my old laptop and i want to connect to it with my new laptop, but when i try and connect it says ‘your network administrator has blocked you from connecting to this network. so i go into the control pannel and the the sharing section to allow ad hoc networks but it is grayed out and not allowing me to change this, do you know any was of overiding this?
