add 2003 standard as DC then demote sbs 2003 and keep it.

Hi all,

this is my first post.

I want to add a 2k3 standard server and make it my primary domain controller on a domain controller by an SBS 2k3.

On the sbs we have our backup configured which pulls data from a couple of linux servers running SAP and files from the sbs itself since it is acting as a file/print server as well.

Can I add a second DC (2003 standard server NOT SBS), make it my primary DC, then demote SBS and keep it as a plain server just for my backup so that I dont have to configure it again?

If this is not possible then can I upgrade from SBS 2003 to standard 2003 and keep it as a plain server on the network?

Your help will be highly appreciated.
