Adding A Sharp Copier as A Printer

The Sharp Copier dealer gave me a program called IP-P2P and said it was the networking software for this copier.(although the copyright is 1998!). I installed it on an XP workstation, and an IP-P2P port is a selection in “add a port”, but when you try to go further, you get an error message “Specified Port Cannot Be Added.” I thought his might be a permissions issue, but I have full administrator rights. I can ping the assigned address on the copier. Can anyone assist?
