Adding new domain in a exchange server?

hi mates,
i have configured a new domain in a one of the exchange server. created new recipient policy too… i am able to send mails from the mail id i have created but not able to receive mails. dnt know wat mistake i did.
pls help on this…
also please let me know wat happens when we apply the policy will it mess up the active directory.
